Each design focuses on the history of HMS Daedalus, the former military base, where Fareham Innovation Centre is based. This design commemorates squadrons flying out from HMS Daedalus on D-day.
Above are the preliminary drafts for the four panel designs hung in the Conference Suite.
Panel 1:Fairey Seafox: In the early part of WWII these planes would have launched from Lee-on-Solent beach.
Panel 2: This design acknowledges the women that served in the Women’s Royal Navy Service.
Panel 3: In the early 1930’s the Fairey Swordfish, a biplane torpedo bomber would have been a regular sight in the skies above the Daedalus base.
Panel 4: The base is also home to the Hovercraft Museum - This design is based on the military hovercraft BH-7 Wellington which was tested and housed here.
